    Ingredients
    
                - 1/4 C warm water 110 - 115F
- 1/4 oz. fast rising yeast 1 pkg.
- 3/4 C milk
- 1/4 C sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1/4 C shortening Country Crock works well
- 3 3/4 C flour plus extra for kneading

    Instructions
    
                - Mix the dry yeast with 2 C flour, the sugar and salt. Heat milk and water to 110-115F; add to flour mixture with egg and shortening. Mix until smooth. Add enough flour to make a dough that is easily handled.
- Turn onto lightly floured board and knead until smooth (about 5 minutes). Round up in greased bowl, cover with a cloth and let ruse in warm place about 25 minutes.
- Punch down and shape. Let rise and bake as directed in specific recipes.
